# Why aren't Kenyan IDs returning images for some IDs queried?

In some instances, you'll notice that not all Kenyan IDs queried have an image associated with that particular ID number. This is not an API issue but a gap in the Government ID Authority database.

> Our data indicates that this occurs in approximately 50% of instances

When a [Biometric KYC](/products/for-individuals-kyc/biometric-kyc.md) job is submitted for an ID number lacking an image in the ID database, our system cannot perform a facial comparison, resulting in a job failure.

To prevent this, we recommend using [Enhanced Document Verification](/products/for-individuals-kyc/document-verification/enhanced-document-verification.md) in Kenya. This ensures that even if the ID authority does not return a photo, we can use an ID photo for comparison against the submitted selfie and additionally verify the textual information on the document against the information retrieved from the ID authority.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://legacy-docs.usesmileid.com/further-reading/faqs/why-arent-kenyan-ids-returning-images-for-some-ids-queried.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
